CLARA JEANNE REED

In the Meadows of Asphodel is an ongoing exploration of self-portraiture set against the surreal landscapes of the American West, the region that shaped me. By abstracting my body into these vast terrains, I investigate notions of selfhood, anonymity, and liminality. Paired with poems that meditate on variations of the afterlife, the project delves into collective memory, identity, and the cycles of rebirth. What imprints has the earth left upon our skin? What scars have we, in turn, etched into its surface?
